Director Profile

Our Managing Director, Paul Barton, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants with over 20 years commercial experience within Financial Services where he has worked in a variety of roles within Insurance & Professional Services organisations. He has gained unique experience across a wide range of technical disciplines and commercial situations which help to underpin the comprehensive service coverage we offer our Clients.

In particular, Paul has developed extensive Part VII FSMA 2000 insurance business transfer skills, having been involved in 10 major acquisition/disposal/integration projects covering a wide range of business types and technical issues. He has provided advisory services on project design and on-going quality assurance monitoring as well as day to day project management.

Early career - After a short spell as a computer consultant, he trained with KPMG before moving into Life Assurance in 1991 with Prolific Life & Pensions where he gained wide-ranging & hands-on knowledge of all aspects of a fast-growing life company.

He strengthened and extended his technical & operational knowledge during his time with Countrywide Assured (now part of Chesnara plc), developing signifcant skills across Finance, Investments, Unit Pricing, Tax, Treasury, Actuarial, Legal & Regulatory. Paul also gained significant acquisition experience  during this time with the acquisition, integration & rationalisation of a group of 12 companies, including a Life & Pensions operation.

Recognising the significant changes & challenges faced within the Life Assurance sector, particularly the increase in closed fund consolidation & outsourcing, Paul founded Avanti Consulting in Jan 2003 to provide a range of high quality consultancy, interim and project management services. Subsequent successful and timely delivery has resulted in repeat work from a number of blue chip Clients.

Paul brings a significant range of technical and professional expertise to assignments and has a wealth of commercial, project and change management experience which Clients have found invaluable in achieving successful delivery. His high level of Financial Services knowledge, coupled with an ability to collaborate with and direct technical and professional teams has enabled Clients to more effectively utilise their key resources and their professional advisors.
